Jesus said that He would baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire. Matt 3:11. Now, it is no mystery that God is going to baptize me with fire. I pray for it all the time. But, I think that He is wanting me to understand what it entails. One of the things that I am contemplating is what exactly a baptism of fire means. If He baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire, those are two different things – not the same. Fire is a separate baptism.
So, Psalm 104:4 has come up that I am just meditating upon. What I am wondering is whether there is some supernatural mantle (like the one that He laid on me and told me that I was a minister of fire) that comes from the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Or, is there a grace for fire? Or could fire be a release of certain ministering angels? Or, all the above?
Dig Psalm 104:4
Psalm 104:4 (New American Standard Bible)
4He makes the winds His messengers,
Flaming fire His ministers.
Psalm 104:4 (New King James Version)
4 Who makes His angels spirits,
His ministers a flame of fire.
Psalm 104:4 (New International Version)
4 He makes winds his messengers,
flames of fire his servants.
Psalm 104:4 (Amplified Bible)
4Who makes winds His messengers, flames of fire His ministers.
Psalm 104:4 (King James Version)
4Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire
I like the KJV version. It seems that some of the issue of angels gets lost along the way with other translations.
