4 For they are impudent and stubborn children. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD.’ 5 As for them, whether they hear or whether they refuse—for they are a rebellious house—yet they will know that a prophet has been among them.
6 “And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions; do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their looks, though they are a rebellious house. 7 You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious. 8 But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”
Ezekiel 2:3-8
Eat what I give you. Wow! This is so pregnant with Truth. Eat the scroll that I give you – Revelation, right? God commands the prophetic to speak His truth. It does not matter whether the people that we proclaim it to receive it or not. Our job is not to get them to receive.
Our job is to speak. Otherwise, we are as rebellious as the folks that we are speaking to. Tough comparison.
I believe it to be the case that God simply wants the seed of His word to be planted. The prophet puts the seed in the ground. The seed comes from God. Once the seed is put in the ground by the prophet, the Holy Spirit now has the ability to water that seed. Yes, some will fall on rocky soil. Some will wither and die. Because we are a rebellious people. But, the Spirit will also water some into great blooms, and much fruit will come to pass.
Our role is to release the Word. That’s it.
Bless God. He does the rest.
