Baal Perazim

In 1 Chronicles 14, we see that the King of Tyre builds David a house. This was meant to be a sign that the LORD had established David as king over His people Israel. (v2)

Then, we come to the stories of the Philistines attacking David. It is not uncommon for the enemy to come against one that God establishes. We saw this with Elisha after Elijah left. So, the Philistines attack in the Valley of Rephaim (giants). This is so very prophetic.

God anoints and establishes, and the giants come out.

v 10 “And David inquired of God…”  We see that the proper response when attack comes is to go to the LORD and ask Him what to do.

God tells David to attack. David does and defeats them.

v11 “…Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Peazim (lit. Master of Breakthroughs).

God is the God of breakthroughs. He comes upon us with the suddenlies and busts through like water through a dam.

When the giants come up and oppress, a breakthrough is needed, go the LORD, and He will certainly show Himself might as the God of breakthroughs.
