Acts 11

v1 The Jews heard that the Gentiles received the word of God. Imagine what that must have been like. Here, they thought that they were special and chosen. Here, God says that ALL people are His.

v3 Jews to Peter “You went with in to uncircumcised men, and ate with them!”

v4 BUT PETER explained it to them IN ORDER from the beginning…
v9 “what God has cleansed you must not call common.”

v10 Now this was done three times, and all were drawn up into heaven. Three denials. Three “do you love me’s?” Three times Peter gets revelation of God’s cleansing power.

v15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, “as upon us at the beginning.

Our words release the prophetic into action. We speak – God moves.

v24 Barnabus was a good man “full of the Holy Spirit and of faith.” Is that a measuring stick of being good?

v25 – 26 Big verse:

1) They sought out Paul and brought him to Antioch. Apostolic preparation.
2) They stayed for an entire year.
3) They assembled with the church.
4) They taught a great many people.
5) They were first called Christians in Antioch.

v27 And in those days, PROPHETS came from Jerusalem to Antioch. This is highly relevant. Why though? To fortell the famine.

v28 Abagus was one of those prophets. He prophesied that a great famine (confirmed during Claudius Ceasar’s rule) would happen.

v29 – 30 The famine led to the disciples contibuting to his own ability to help the bretheren in Judea. Help was sent to the elders by way of Barnabas and SAUL. He is not yet called Paul.

The prophetic word was about famine. The result was that Paul and Barnabus were sent to Judea. God had death proceed life.
