I was playing cards with some friends. We were playing for a good amount of money. There was more than a couple of dollars in the pot. We were playing Scat (31).
I was the person to left of the of the dealer, and he dealt the cards. I had an ace and king of diamonds. The goal is not to lose, but to get 31 is rare, which requires an ace (11) + two face cards (10 each), totally 31. W/o looking at the card the dealer turned over, I passed. It was a jack of diamonds and would have given me the win and the pot, but I wasn’t paying attention.
When I realized that I had the winning hand, it was too late. It had already gotten to the other side. Now, I was wishing/hoping that everyone passed because I would have gotten the card again, but that wasn’t how the game was played. My dad, when it got to him, laid down his cards for some reason, and the hand ended.
