The LORD is my banner

I see the raging sea at night. Three lifeboats are filled with people. Their sailboat yacht has long gone down.

The serpent raises his scales and tail out of the top of the water, but his head stays just below the surface. For, he will not attack yet.

The LORD is there with His butcher’s apron on, and He whistles while He is sharpening His meat cleaver. He checks the edge. One eye is on the people.

Suddenly, the serpent rises up out of the water with a great roar and rush. They people are panic stricken and are flipped out of their lifeboats and into the water. Chaos is ready to let loose. But, God is not shaken. Before anything else can happen, the cleaver cuts through the night sky and lops off the head of the dragon.

Surely, there are trials, and surely there are seasons. But, the LORD will not give you more than you can handle. He guards you day and night. No matter how dark the darkness is. No matter how big the storm is. No matter how much of your life has seem to have sunk. It is the LORD who watches over you. He is your banner.

Exodus 17:8-15
8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.  9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and
Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up-one on one side, one on the other-so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. 14 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” 15 Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner.
