Jesus prophesied his entire ministry with his first miracle.
He turned water into wine.
The first baptism is water – for the repentance of sin.
The second baptism is wine – Holy Spirit! Jesus left and gave us Holy Spirit. John the baptist ushered in Jesus ministry at the Jordan.
John was baptizing with water (see the verse) for the forgiveness of sin but One whose sandals I am not worthy to untie comes after me. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Matt 5?
Jesus converted SIX vessels of water into choice wine. Six is the number of man. Vessels were made of clay, oftentimes. Jesus was changing the water to wine. He was prophesying that the water would go away – take our sins and in its place, we would be filled with Holy Spirit.
Let the wedding begin.
The bridgegroom is ready. No wonder it happened at the wedding. Jesus was telling us to get ready.
