16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore[c] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Amen. Jesus is the Yes and the Amen.
The Lord has a mission for us. There is indeed something very special that we are created to do. There is a mountain to overtake.
What are the mountains in your life? What has been your experience? Have you suffered death? Financial ruin? The loss of a child? Physical affliction? Divorce?
Jesus appoints our mountain for us. He assigns the work that we are to do. We sometimes get whiff of a good idea, but that is not the idea that Jesus has for us. Where He sends us, He anoints us. And often, we can look right into the heart of our life experiences for a glimpse of what that assignment might look like.
It is through faith that we move. We cannot please God apart from faith. It is faith that Jesus said will make a mountain jump into the see. Faith of a mustard seed no less. What is your mountain? Where has Jesus placed you that will bring great honor and glory to God? For Jesus is always about glorifying our Father. We must NOT doubt. There can be no doubt. Jesus rebuked the twelve frequently for their doubt. When we get our assignment, it is for glory’s sake the we move in faith. There is no room for doubt.
Fear not, I have overcome the world. Jesus has already done it. “I have overcome”. It is done. It is finished. As it is so, we also see that Jesus has ALL authority. Not some, but all. He has the authority to send us where we are to go. He has the authority for action when we show up in faith without fear. He has the power. He has the power.
THEREFORE, “go”. Get into the game. Dont sit around looking at your mountain and its massive form. Move forward in faith. Go. Jesus has the authority to tell us where to go and what to do. So, when He says go, we go. Period. We move forward.
But, your mountain also comes with wisdom. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Experience brings forth the refinement of that wisdom to shape is as effective tool to teach others. For our mountain will not be isolated. No Jesus says that we will make disciples. We will teach. We will teach others of our experiences and impart to them wisdom that we have learned along the way as we have worked to overcome our mountain.
We baptize them. In the name of our God, Lord and His Spirit, we baptize. We seal the deal. The authority placed on Jesus is bestowed upon us to escort new believers into the Kingdom. The lost are in hell. Our mountains look like hell. We must go into hell to get the lost, for whom else will hear us preach the good news? It is not the well who need a doctor…
Our experiences bring perspective. We can show others what has worked or not worked. We can share with the body. The body works together then as a whole with Christ at the helm. We are under His authority to move the mountain, but we will not be alone. He is with us, and others will be with us. This is encouraging because some mountains are quite large and will want to intimidate us.
Knowing that Jesus is with us always. What an amazing perspective. Consider that as you face your mountain. Jesus is with you always.
This means peace. Peace that passes all understanding. We will face our mountains with our God, and we will peace.
And, as we overcome, surely the mountain will fall into the sea.
Bless God
